Texts and Contexts: Books and Libraries in the Early 20th Century


Many of us think of books and libraries as "natural," but as recently as the 1930s and 1940s and into the 50s there were campaigns encouraging people to incorporate books into their lives and libraries into their routine stops. The idealized family read together, of course.
